MOSCOW (Reuters) – A Ryanair pilot who landed his airplane in Belarus on Sunday repeatedly questioned details about an alleged bomb menace, earlier than finally agreeing to land in Minsk, in response to a transcript launched on Tuesday by authorities in Belarus.

Belarus scrambled a warplane to escort the flight, which was en route from Greece to Lithuania. When the airplane landed in Minsk, Belarusian authorities arrested a dissident journalist. Western international locations have described the incident as a hijacking or piracy.

The transcript launched on Tuesday differs from excerpts beforehand launched by Belarus state TV, which had attributed a number of the pilot’s remarks to the controller. State TV had pointed to its model to argue that the pilot had requested to land in Minsk, quite than that the controller had suggested him to take action.

Following are excerpts from the transcript, which Reuters was unable to confirm. For readability, the decision signal, RYR 1TZ, which each the pilot and controller repeated after they spoke, has been edited out.
